Dr. Tim Lee
Honours Students

Dr. Lee takes honours students into his laboratory. In addition to this, Dr. Lee also facilitates the entry of honours students into the programs of his clinical colleagues who share laboratory space with him.

Honours students usually work very closely with graduate students in the lab such that their projects, while independent, contribute to the ongoing research direction of the laboratory. Working with a graduate student allows the honours students to develop laboratory skills in a supportive environment. Honours students meet every two weeks with Dr. Lee to discuss their results.

It is imperative to approach Dr. Lee early if you want to work in his lab. Because he teaches in a second year course there are many students who approach Dr. Lee in the second term of second year about honours research work. Dr. Lee will often give these students a conditional acceptance into his laboratory if their grades remain excellent.
Because of the translational nature of his research, most of Dr. Lee's honours students eventually enter medical school. Some retain an interest in research and collaborate with Dr. Lee after their medical training.

Under ideal conditions, honours students would work in Dr. Lee's laboratory as summer students in the summer before they enter fourth year. Often, this summer work is partially supported by an NSERC summer student award.

The project for each individual honours student is decided upon by consensus agreement between the honours student, the sponsoring graduate student and Dr. Lee. The project must fit in with the ongoing research area of the laboratory. For more information about the research interests of this laboratory please visit the research projects section of this site.
